"The Rock"

Buster Posey

Buster Posey helped define a championship era in San Francisco. The Giants catcher was central to World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014, combining leadership behind the plate with a hitter’s patience and power. After winning the 2010 National League Rookie of the Year Award, he returned from a serious injury to earn the 2012 NL MVP Award and batting title. In “The Rock,” Justyn Farano celebrates the steady presence Giants fans trusted through three championship runs, honoring a player whose influence reached far beyond the batter’s box.

Farano brings Giants orange to the forefront, surrounding Posey’s batting portrait with warm gold, black and a brickwork motif. His name, number 28 and the Giants emblem make the painting a tribute to the player and the franchise he helped lead.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
