"The Pinnacle"

Jerry Rice

Jerry Rice’s legacy stands among the greatest in NFL history. Over a 20-season career, he set the standard for wide receiver excellence, finishing with 1,549 receptions, 22,895 receiving yards, and 208 total touchdowns. A three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl XXIII MVP, Rice combined extraordinary production with the preparation and discipline that kept him at the top of his profession. His career earned him a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In “The Pinnacle,” Justyn Farano centers Rice in his familiar San Francisco No. 80, hands extended as the football arrives. Smaller portraits and action scenes surround him, bringing different moments of his playing career into one composition. Rich red and gold, the 49ers emblem, and the sweep of the central receiving pose connect the images. The result is a tribute to Rice’s years in San Francisco and the standard he established for generations of receivers.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
