"Staring Down The Flag"

Jack Nicklaus

Jack Nicklaus built his reputation on powerful play, careful course management, and the ability to produce when a major championship was on the line. His record 18 professional majors include six Masters victories, culminating in the unforgettable 1986 win at age 46. Known as the Golden Bear, Nicklaus remains a reference point for championship golf. His achievements give collectors a connection to an era when his presence on a leaderboard could change the entire tournament.

Justyn Farano’s “Staring Down The Flag” celebrates Nicklaus through the concentration of his follow-through. The familiar yellow shirt gives the portrait a personal connection to the Golden Bear, while Farano keeps the focus on the champion’s competitive presence. This artist recreation is hand-signed by Jack Nicklaus.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
