"Mayhem In The Middle"

Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis set the tone for Baltimore. Across 17 seasons, all with the Ravens, his preparation and intensity made him the center of a defense opponents never overlooked. He won two Super Bowl championships, earned Super Bowl XXXV MVP honors, and finished his playing career with another title in Super Bowl XLVII.

Created before that final championship, Justyn Farano’s “Mayhem In The Middle” captures Lewis in the purple No. 52 that became synonymous with Ravens football. His arms extend across the composition, with bold Lewis lettering and warm gold textures reinforcing the force of his presence. The portrait celebrates the leader at the heart of Baltimore’s defense, a player whose commitment could be felt before the ball was snapped and long after the whistle.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
