"Hitting Machine"

Carl Yastrzemski

Carl Yastrzemski carried the Boston Red Sox through one of their most unforgettable seasons. His 1967 Triple Crown and American League MVP Award powered the “Impossible Dream” pennant run, establishing “Yaz” as the player a generation of Boston fans would call its own. Across 23 seasons, all with the Red Sox, he collected a franchise-record 3,419 hits, hit 452 home runs and earned seven Gold Gloves. In “Hitting Machine,” Justyn Farano celebrates the Hall of Famer whose sustained excellence and place in Boston’s baseball story made number 8 a Fenway Park landmark.

Farano renders Yastrzemski’s left-handed swing in a restrained vintage palette, with a tightly packed crowd bringing the atmosphere of the ballpark close. The composition connects the force of his swing with the concentration behind a career built on thousands of hits.

This original oil painting is hand signed by Carl Yastrzemski. It also carries his “HOF 89 & TC 67” inscription.

Athlete & Celebrity

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
