"Here's Looking At You, Kid"

Ken Griffey Jr.

Ken Griffey Jr. gave a generation of baseball fans a player who could change a game with his bat or his glove. His smooth left-handed swing produced 630 career home runs, while ten Gold Glove Awards recognized his brilliance in center field. A thirteen-time All-Star and the 1997 American League MVP, he entered the Hall of Fame in 2016 with 99.3 percent of the vote. For Seattle fans, “The Kid” remains a defining figure in the Mariners’ rise and one of baseball’s most recognizable talents.

Justyn Farano’s “Here’s Looking At You, Kid” celebrates the complete player behind that Hall of Fame legacy. Griffey’s Mariners portrait and leaping catch unite the power and athletic grace that made Seattle’s No. 24 unforgettable. This artist recreation is hand-signed by Ken Griffey Jr. with the inscription “HOF 2016.”

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
