Mike Alstott gave Tampa Bay a runner who could turn a short gain into a test of wills. A six-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl XXXVII champion, he became a favorite through his strength, balance, and determination with the football. His scoring run in that Super Bowl supplied the first touchdown in the Buccaneers’ championship victory.

Justyn Farano’s “Fire The Cannons” sets Alstott in front of a pirate ship, with sails, rigging, and a skull-and-crossbones flag giving the background its distinctly Tampa Bay character. In his red No. 40 jersey, he protects the ball as he drives through the composition. The surrounding bronze tones give the work a weathered, hard-earned character. This piece connects Alstott’s physical style with the celebration of Buccaneers football, recalling the roar that followed another A-Train run.
