"Fear Factor"

Dan Marino

Dan Marino changed what a passing offense could threaten to do. In 1984, he threw for 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns, setting NFL single-season records in both categories and earning the league’s MVP award. Across 17 seasons in Miami, his quick release and powerful arm made the Dolphins a constant challenge for opposing secondaries.

In “Fear Factor,” Justyn Farano captures Marino with the football raised and his eyes fixed downfield. Miami aqua, orange, and white move across the background, while the Dolphins emblem and bold lettering establish the portrait’s unmistakable identity. The work looks back at Marino in his familiar No. 13, preserving the anticipation of a throw that could reach its target before a defense had time to recover.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
