"Denied"

Tim Thomas

Tim Thomas delivered one of the defining goaltending performances in Boston Bruins history during the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs. He earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as postseason MVP after helping the Bruins win their first championship since 1972, recording a shutout in Game 7 against Vancouver. His aggressive style, quick reactions, and ability to make difficult saves under pressure made him a central figure in that championship run.

In “Denied,” Justyn Farano portrays Thomas guarding the Bruins’ net, emphasizing the concentration and athleticism required to stop an NHL attack. The painting honors the goaltender whose work in the crease helped bring the Stanley Cup back to Boston.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
