"Class of 2017"

2017 MLB Hall of Fame Class

Jeff Bagwell, Iván Rodríguez and Tim Raines reached Cooperstown through three very different forms of greatness. Bagwell combined power and athleticism at first base, finishing with 449 home runs and the 1994 National League MVP Award. Rodríguez built a catching legacy with 13 Gold Gloves, while Raines paired exceptional on-base ability with 808 stolen bases. In “Class of 2017,” Justyn Farano brings these three Hall of Fame players together, celebrating the accomplishments that earned their induction and the lasting bond each built with the fans who followed his career.

An oversized baseball with red stitching ties the three portraits together, with Rodríguez at the center between Bagwell and Raines. The class crest and Hall of Fame insignia give the piece a commemorative character, honoring the moment their careers became part of Cooperstown’s permanent history.

This original oil painting is hand signed by Jeff Bagwell, Iván Rodríguez and Tim Raines, each with a “HOF 2017” inscription.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
