"Class Act"

Walter Payton

Walter Payton made every yard a contest. Across 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears, “Sweetness” combined balance, strength, and an unwillingness to yield, finishing with 16,726 rushing yards. He retired as the NFL’s leading rusher and helped Chicago win Super Bowl XX, leaving a standard that extended well beyond the record book.

Justyn Farano’s “Class Act” brings Payton’s Chicago years together in a layered portrait. In the foreground, No. 34 carries the football in a white Bears uniform, while smaller images recall his running style and presence on the field. The Bears emblem and bold Payton lettering ground the composition in the city he represented throughout his career. It is a celebration of the runner, teammate, and enduring Chicago favorite whose nickname remains inseparable from the game.

The philosophy behind my art has always been to make the most compelling, engaging experience for you, the viewer. I try to envision what it was like to compete against that athlete on the field. I want you to feel that grit and rawness of emotion, the athlete’s competitive fire, and passion.

As a perfectionist, my obsession of getting these details precise, takes razor focus, constant critiquing, and fine tuning. It’s not till the painting is complete to my highest of standard, till I am genuinely satisfied.
